WHAT TO EXPECT
At Axiom Chiropractic, our examinations procedures are geared toward detection and correction of the “Vertebral Subluxation.”
Step One
All new practice members are requested to fill out the new practice member health application form as completely as possible. Please read and sign all other forms as well.
Step Two
A one-on-one consultation will be conducted to discuss your health issues and goals, uncover the layers of past damage/trauma and to help determine the cause of your health issues.
Step Three
Next, a short comprehensive chiropractic spinal evaluation will be performed by the Doctor utilizing both motion and static palpation (palpation means to assess with your hands) to explore the alignment of your spine and other structures, as well as provide information on any stimuli that may cause pain or discomfort to further determine the exact cause of your health problems.
It is important to note that this examination helps us understand the subluxation processes going on in your spine. Using these examination procedures is much more accurate than just depending on “how you feel” on any given day.
You may be asked to:
-
Bend forward, sideways, or backwards – Misaligned spinal vertebrae can be revealed during this exercise.
-
Perform specific orthopedic tests to determine the exact components involved in your health problems.
-
Gait Analysis – Evaluating your gait helps to determine if you have a normal walking pattern. Abnormalities in the balance and alignment within your pelvis and spine can be seen during this assessment.
-
Postural Evaluation – Posture abnormalities will reveal whether or not you have misalignments within spinal column.
These exercises will provide vital information regarding your motor skills, balance, and gait, leading the doctor to a better understanding of your current state of health. These tests also help determine your range of motion, muscle tone and strength, and overall integrity of your nervous system.
Step Four
The Doctor will order Chiropractic Postural Specific X-rays. X-rays give us important information including the position of the spinal bones, and the quality of the spine and safety of adjusting it. These will be determined by the spinal evaluation. X-rays tell us the relative length of time subluxations may have been involved in your spine. Commonly, most patients receive three to five spinal X-rays at the beginning of care. We also utilize 4 view motion study x-rays to see how the bones may or may not be moving properly.
The Doctor will then take quality time to review your x-rays to analyze for vertebral subluxation and spinal misalignment. The results will be discussed at your next appointment, the Report of Findings.
Step Five
This is your most important appointment! A Report of Findings will be conducted, at which time the cause of your current condition will be discussed.
After reviewing your case, the Doctor will decide if you are a candidate for chiropractic care and a thorough explanation of care recommendations and action steps will be explained.
